Bridge Woods Field Archery Club Constitution

1.      The name of the Club shall be Bridge Woods Field Archery Club (BWFAC), but may be known  as Bridge Wood Field Archers. 

2.      The objective of BWFAC shall be the practice and promotion of Field Archery for all. 

3.      The management of BWFAC shall be entrusted to a Committee, elected annually by the membership. All members of the Committee may be eligible for re-election without restriction. 

4.      The Committee shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Field Officer and other Executive Officers as required, and shall meet at least four times a year. Three members to form a Quorum. 

5.      Should a member of the Committee or other Executive Officer resign, be unable to carry out their agreed responsibilities, or otherwise leave BWFAC, for whatever reason, the Committee shall have the power to appoint a replacement to fill the vacancy until the next AGM, without prior reference to the membership. 

6.      There shall be an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held during the first quarter of each year to elect the Committee, and to make or alter rules etc. 

7.      The date, time and location of the AGM will be notified to the membership at least 28 days in advance, when Committee nominations and rule changes will be invited. Any such nominations or rule changes to be notified in writing to the Secretary by no later than 7 days before the meeting, in order to facilitate production of an agenda etc. Notwithstanding this deadline, if any Committee posts have no nominations by the time of the AGM, nominations may be accepted at the AGM, subject to the agreement of the individual so nominated. 

8.      A bank or building society account will be maintained in the name of BWFAC, with a minimum of two nominated signatories.

9.      The accounts of BWFAC will run from November 1st to October 31st. They will be audited once a year, and the audited accounts submitted to the AGM. The auditor may not be a member of the Committee, and may not be a signatory to BWFAC account. 

10.  Every shooting member of BWFAC shall pay annual membership subscriptions as determined by the Committee. This shall cover the subscription of BWFAC and the affiliation fees to the National Field Archery Society (NFAS). 

11.  The due date for Annual subscriptions is 1st January of any given year. Members who have not paid within 30 days shall be deemed to no longer be members of BWFAC, and all shooting and access rights will be suspended immediately. 

12.  Guest Archers may shoot at BWFAC, subject to compliance with BWFAC rules. 

13.  The Committee or a minimum of 25% of BWFAC shooting membership shall have the power to ask the secretary to call an Extraordinary General Meeting of BWFAC, on giving a minimum of 28 days notice of such meeting. 

14.  The Rules Of Shooting and etiquette of NFAS, the Rules of BWFAC and any requirements of BWFAC’s landlord shall be observed at all times. Any member failing to observe any relevant rules will be liable to a penalty, as laid down in BWFAC rules, or as determined by the Committee. 

15.  In the event of BWFAC folding, all assets will be sold to pay any outstanding BWFAC debts. Any surplus funds will then be donated to a local charity of the Committee’s choice.

16.   Life memberships may only given to members who have met the following criteria: Long standing active members of the Club who due to ill health are no longer able to shoot, and/or for exceptional service to the club. The reasons for life membership must be stated in writing and put to postal ballot and be approved by 75% of the total club membership (ie, not just those voting).
